Rumor has it, that perhaps, only perhaps, (documented by experts and theorist in art, Englishmen, Americans and French: William Camfield, Rhonda Roland, Kirk Varnedoe, Irene Gammel, Glyn Thompson, Hector Obak) that the famous Marcel Duchamp´s urinary (Fountain, 1917) was not his creation, but hers. Of another woman, a hidden one, and silenced by a not just an official history but an everyday more misogynic one: Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven (1874-1927), the first Dadaist artist and writer of the Unites States. Elsa was an active feminist and friend of Marcel. And it was Marcel Duchamp himself that in one of his letters to his sister Suzanne that writes: “one of my female friends under a masculine pseudonym, Richard Mutt, sent in a porcelain urinal as a sculpture”[1] to the annual exposition of the Independent Artist Association. As a matter of fact the name of Duchamp does not show anywhere in the 1917 shipment of artworks. The artwork was rejected, and a little bit later it was recognized to be the first conceptual artwork in modern art. It is consider being one of most influent work of art in the 20th century. In 1983, doubt was cast upon Marcel Duchamp´s authorship; more so, when the story of where and the utilization of the urinary had a clear antimilitarist and antimachista intention….fact that the official history does not care to tell. By 1950, Duchamp had already assumed the authorship of the work art and made 17 copies which were sold to the best museum over the world. Its value in the market is not worth mention, is one of the highest around.

Transconceptual: as a critical displacement of the traditional art history, that visibilizes mostly bio-men[1],  artists, this concept tries to unveil the contemporary art crisis that had in the XX century, that confirms that in history also has its performativity and although many agree that authorship does not exist, it is important to rescue the invisibilization of the authors. In other words, the prefix trans incites the transformation not just the esthetic but as well as the prosthetics of ideas that comes from a perverse androcentrism that floods itself in denial against the perspectives of the bio-women artist.

[1]What I call bioman and biowoman are those men and women that have been assigned as such when born, therefore, that have not questioned that situation.
